Small business strategies for globalization and the Internet to be ...

A conference for small business owners at the University of New Orleans on Thursday will cover topics including Internet practices for small businesses, taking businesses global and tax strategies. The headlining speaker is Chris Genteel, head of diversity markets for Google,?who works?with businesses that are underrepresented online.

The event, called the Southeast Louisiana Small Business Conference, takes place Thursday from 9:45 a.m. to 4 p.m. at UNO's Lindy C. Boggs International Conference Center.

The other speakers are Desiree Young, founder and chief executive of VentureWalk Business Partners, a New Orleans-based firm that helps entrepreneurs market their businesses, Phyllis Cassidy, founder and executive director of the Good Work Network, which aids minority and women-owned businesses in the New Orleans area and Ashton Ryan Jr., founder, chief executive and chairman of First NBC Bank of New Orleans.

Registration costs $35 and can be completed through the conference's web site. The event is sponsored by the Alliance for Economic Inclusion and the Good Work Network.
